What to Compare When Choosing a Keto Dessert Brand

Founder • Jun 28, 2026

Why Keto Desserts Are Hard to Get Right

On keto or low-carb, the hard part often isn't hunger. It's wanting something sweet that won't wreck your macros. There are far more keto desserts on the market than there used to be, and they're not all equal. Pick the wrong one and you're left disappointed, or eating something that doesn't fit your plan as well as the box suggested.

This guide covers what to look for when you compare keto dessert brands, and how we make ours, so you can decide for yourself.

A few things make the search harder than it should be.

Taste is the first. Some sweeteners leave a chemical aftertaste; stevia on its own can come across as bitter or metallic. One bite and you know it's "diet food," which kind of defeats the point of dessert.

The carb math is the second. Some "keto-friendly" products use maltitol, a sugar alcohol that behaves more like sugar than most people expect, while the net carb number on the label makes it look like it doesn't count.

Texture is the third. Low-carb baking needs different ratios than regular baking, and a lot of keto cookies come out dry and crumbly or dense and heavy.

The fourth is the ingredient list. Long lists of fillers and additives can be hard on some stomachs, and they rarely help the taste.

What Makes a Keto Dessert Actually Work

Before comparing brands, it helps to know what separates a good keto dessert from one that just says keto on the box.

Check how the net carbs are counted. Most brands subtract fiber and sugar alcohols (or allulose) from total carbs, but sugar alcohols aren't all alike, and maltitol is the one to watch. The way a brand does the math matters as much as the number.

Look for something that satisfies. Fat is a big part of what makes a treat feel like enough, so a keto dessert shouldn't skimp on it.

Read the ingredients. You should recognize most of what's on the label. Some gums and binders have a job to do, but they should be the exception, not the bulk of the list.

And it should taste good on its own terms. Sugar-free shouldn't mean flavor-free. Real chocolate, spices, extracts and nut butters should carry the flavor so you're not making excuses for it.

When a brand gets all of that right, it's worth sticking with.

How We Make Ours

Our keto cookies are made with almond flour and sweetened with allulose and monk fruit, with no sugar alcohols and no erythritol. Most flavors also have butter and egg. Our nutrition & ingredients page lists exactly what goes into each product.

We care a lot about texture. Our keto cookies are meant to be soft, not brittle, and our brownies are meant to be rich and fudgy.

Everything is made in our own dedicated gluten-free bakery in Texas, where gluten-containing ingredients are not allowed.

And there's more than one thing to eat. Our collections include cookies, brownies, and bites, plus home baking mixes and our AlluMonk sweetener, so you can build a rotation instead of eating the same thing until you're sick of it.

Our Ingredients and Nutrition

Here's what's behind the numbers on our labels.

Allulose and monk fruit do the sweetening. Allulose is a rare sugar found in small amounts in figs, raisins and maple syrup. Your body doesn't metabolize it like table sugar, so it has an insignificant effect on blood sugar and insulin, and it has about 0.4 calories per gram. Monk fruit sweetener has zero calories and gets its sweetness from compounds called mogrosides. We use no maltitol and no erythritol in our keto cookies.

We count net carbs as total carbs minus fiber minus allulose. On that math, our cookies land at 1 to 4 g net carbs depending on flavor, and our cookie bites at 1 net carb each.

Our products are made with almond flour and coconut flour instead of wheat. Almond flour gives the cookies structure and a buttery bite; coconut flour adds fiber.

A note on allergens: almond flour is a tree nut, so nothing we make is nut-free, and our kitchen also handles peanuts, tree nuts, milk, eggs and soy. Our vegan Chocolate Chip and our Peanut Butter cookie are dairy-free.

Put any two nutrition labels side by side and these are the lines to compare: net carbs, how they're counted, and the sweetener.

Taste and Texture

Taste is personal, but a well-made keto dessert is usually easy to tell from a rushed one.

Our keto cookies aim for a soft, slightly chewy center. That takes the right moisture and the right mix of flours. Some keto cookies on the market go crisp instead, which some people like, but if you want a cookie that eats like a real cookie, soft is the way.

Our keto brownies are about richness. A good brownie should be fudgy, not dry and cakey.

The sweetener shows up in the aftertaste. Pairing allulose with monk fruit keeps it clean, without the cooling feel of erythritol or the bitter edge of a heavy stevia blend.

Flavor variety helps too. Our keto cookies come in Chocolate Chip Pecan, White Chocolate Macadamia, Peanut Butter, Lemon Poppyseed, Snickerdoodle and Coconut, plus a vegan Chocolate Chip. Our soft-baked Keto Cookie Bites come 8 to a pouch, and seasonal flavors show up in the fall.

Shipping and Our Guarantee

If you find something you love, our subscription option keeps it coming without having to remember to reorder.

Every product page lists the nutrition information, so you're never guessing about macros before you buy.

Trying Us for the First Time

If you've been buying another keto brand and want to try us, here's an easy way to do it.

Start with one or two things you think you'll like most. Chocolate fan? Try a brownie. Cookie person? Pick a flavor.

Then compare. Eat ours next to your current favorite and notice the texture, the aftertaste and how satisfied you feel afterward. That tells you more than any label claim.

Pay attention over the next week, too. How many does it take before you feel like you've had dessert? How do you feel an hour later?

If it works for you, add a few more items to build a rotation. Our full collections have enough variety to keep things interesting.

If you like to bake, our baking mixes are worth a look. You add butter, an egg and extract, bake for 10 to 15 minutes, and each bag makes 20 medium-sized keto cookies.

And if we're not right for you, our money-back guarantee covers it.

Finding a Keto Brand You Trust

The dessert brand you pick matters more than it seems. If the treat is good, you'll stick with your plan. If it isn't, you won't.

We make ChipMonk for keto eaters who want dessert to taste like dessert, and who want to know exactly what's in it.

When you're ready, start with our keto cookies collection or our brownies. Try one, see how it fits your day, and decide from there.
