Types of Keto: Strict vs Dirty Keto

Strict Keto

There are various keto diets out there, the strictest of which is called the strict keto diet. Basically, you're going to stick to under 20 grams of carbohydrates a day. To put that into perspective, a Coca-Cola has 45 carbs in it - I know it's a lot.

You're going to want to stay away from basically anything that's plant-based. It's not the easiest thing to do, it is the hardest of the keto diets. I probably wouldn't start with that one, I would maybe start with a higher number - as I did of about 50 grams of carbs a day. That’s a little bit easier to maintain, but it may or may not put you into ketosis though, you may have to monitor it. You can use the keto strips to see if you're in the ketone range.

Dirty Keto

There's also dirty keto, which is not very monitored. You're just eating anything that's high in fat and protein while trying to stay away from carbs without really having to keep a check on it. On this version, you might find you’re eating more things like bacon, lots of eggs, lots of pork rinds, and lots of fats.
